Katrine Buksted (born 1998 in Denmark) is a Danish artist living and working in Hamburg, Germany. Here she is currently doing her Masters, focusing her studies on painting. Buksted’s figurative paintings are somewhat surreal and mysterious in their seemingly strange nature, while drawing from both autobiographical narrative strands as well as unknown influences. Storytelling is a pivotal part of Katrine’s artistic practice and painting process, with the root of the stories frequently found in her everyday experiences, specifically as a woman. Buksted often combines the seemingly mundane (sometimes even humorous) moments with a certain bitter aftertaste, all while making sure as to never quite tell the whole story. As a result, her oil paintings operate as an open invitation to viewers to find personal associations and draw their own conclusions within her enraptured compositions.
Katrine Buksted has taken part in various group exhibitions in Hamburg and northern Germany. In 2023 she was awarded the add art jury prize for young artists.
